Power to Change has launched the Community Business Renewal Initiative, in response to the COVID-19 crisis and Powering Up! capacity strengthening for community business leaders is part of this support package.
What is Powering Up?
Powering Up is a tailored support package designed to increase community business leaders’ knowledge, to provide wellbeing support and to build peer relationships to boost recovery across the sector. The programme is open to any community business in England to apply; however, we will be prioritising support to community businesses in the most deprived areas of England, as well as organisations that are supporting and led by disabled people and/or people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME*) groups.
What can you apply for?
The support package for community businesses will be tailored, depending on the needs of your organisation. Each organisation will be assigned a Link Worker, their role is to help you access the right support and they will be available to resolve any issues along the way.
This support can include: business skills, human resources advice including employment, redundancy and furlough, health and safety advice including Covid-19 compliance, financial planning including managing cashflow, business planning, crisis management and support to move towards digital service delivery.
Not all community businesses will need assistance in the technical areas, so we’re also offering support for community business leaders’ health and wellbeing including: coaching, peer-to-peer mentoring and resilience and wellbeing support. For more information about the full range of support, please see the guidance notes.
