At Power to Change we want a future where more communities in England run businesses that give them the power to change what matters to them.

We know community business works to build stronger communities and better places to live. But we also know the barriers that stand in the way of their success. To change this, we work alongside the government and MPs from across Parliament to create the conditions for community business to thrive.

This involves engaging with and influencing policy debates, meeting with MPs, political staff, and civil servants, and offering practical solutions that work for government and community business.

In September we’ll be travelling across the country to the Liberal Democrat, Labour and Conservative Party conferences, meeting many of the new cohort of MPs, as well as new government ministers, to introduce them to our work.

As part of our engagement with politicians at conference, we’ve reissued our manifesto, setting out how the new government can help to build community power, enable communities to take back their high streets, and unlock the finance that community businesses need to thrive.

We’ll be attending events – and even hosting some of our own at Labour Party Conference – to showcase community business stories and platform our country’s community leaders alongside its political ones.

We will be sharing insights from Brighton, Liverpool and Birmingham as the conferences happen to highlight the key issues and debates under discussion, and what these mean for community businesses. We’ll also be sharing our reflections on the blog throughout September.

If you’re attending any of the conferences this year and want to get in touch with us, please contact us at info@powertochange.org.uk.
