Wendy has lived and volunteered in Stonehouse for over 17 years. She has a professional background in housing, community development and supporting the voluntary community sector, and is currently a trustee on Plymouth Octopus Project’s board.
Wendy and Hannah Sloggett set up Nudge a year ago; bought a building, regenerated the ground floor and raised £207,000 in community shares. They have plans to bring back more empty and derelict buildings on Union Street and are gaining national recognition for the work they do, recently being named as one of 50 New Radicals by NESTA.
Hannah and Wendy have been chair and vice-chair of Stonehouse Action, an unincorporated group who brought back an empty building into community use with money raised from Crowdfunder. They run an annual street party designed to challenge the stigma and give their community the chance to come together and party showing off all of the lovely things that happen there.
