Mike joined Power to Change in March 2018 and works on the capabilities strengthening workstream, identifying ways for community businesses to develop their skills and capacity.

He has broad experience of Power to Change having worked across a multitude of programmes including the Sandbox Ideas programme, the Community Business Panel and its associated Seed Fund, the M&S Community Business Challenge, Empowering Places, Trade Up (in partnership with the School for Social Entrepreneurs) and Crowdmatch, a match-funding programme in partnership with Crowdfunder UK.

Mike is driven by practical & radical solutions to tackle inequality, the climate and ecological emergency. His strengths are in relationship building and creating partnerships for social, economic and environmental progress. Mike has previously worked for Bristol Pound CIC – Europe’s largest local currency scheme, Bristol Energy, and as a voluntary Director of Sims Hill Shared Harvest, a Community Supported Agriculture cooperative. He is also the Founder of the Bristol Local Food Fund, a new city fund initiative to tackle food insecurity in Bristol.

He is currently a Non-Exec Director of Bristol Spaceworks – a not-for-profit work-space provider, and a Trustee of his local community centre in St Werburghs in Bristol. He has an MSc in International Relations from the University of Bristol, and is currently studying for the Certificate in Fundraising from Chartered Institute of Fundraising.

Outside of work, he enjoys growing fruit and vegetables on his allotment, cooking and eating with friends, running, cycling, playing football, playing music and singing.
