A new report from the Power to Change Research Institute shows that the number of community businesses in England grew by 9% in the last year. This significant increase takes the number of community businesses from 5,035 in 2014 to 5,650 in 2015.

A new report from the Power to Change Research Institute shows that the number of community businesses in England grew by 9% in the last year. This significant increase takes the number of community businesses from 5,035 in 2014 to 5,650 in 2015.

Launched at an event in London today attended by community businesses and senior representatives from government and the social sector, this is the first report to be published by the newly founded Power to Change Research Institute. It examines how community businesses have fared under ongoing government austerity and uncertain economic conditions. The research also found that community businesses are important to the economy, generating £900 million income on £1.4 billion of assets and engaging with 170,000volunteers.
