Key objectives & Outcomes

Grant purpose

The business development grant supported Sheffield Renewables to establish a community share offer which in turn raised £154,000 to install solar panels generating 140Kw of energy on community buildings in Sheffield.

Accountable to the local community

The organisation is entirely volunteer-run and funded by a community share offer, with profits going back into funding new work.

Trading for local benefit

The clean energy generated is sold back to the local businesses which host the panels at below the wholesale cost of energy, reducing their operating costs and improving financial and environmental sustainability.
